What is this FAT SHOT?

The FAT SHOT is a weekly injection of semaglutide (Wegovy or Ozempic) or tirzepatide (Mounjaro). These medications are GLP-1 Agonists. They mimic a natural hormone in your body called Incretin. When we eat the digestive track releases incretin telling your brain to stop eating. Incretin is lowering your blood sugar by triggering insulin release and blocking sugar production. Food stays in the stomach longer making you feel full as well.



How long with it take ma to lose weight?

The medication is actively working within a few days of taking the first injection. The average weight loss is 1 to 3 pounds per week. Results vary on how much weight you have to lose and how overweight you are when starting the program. The total weight loss over the course of one-year averages 15 to 20% of your bodyweight.



How effecting are weight loss injections?

FDA trials show an average weight loss of 15% of your body weight. The placebo trial showed weight loss of 2% of your body weight when being given the placebo injection. Results vary for each person so these are averages.



How long do weight loss injections last?

Injections are done weekly and will stay in the body for up to 7 weeks after stopping the medication. Once you have reached your goal weight, patients may use a lower dosage to reduce the urge to over eat. Patients will learn some valuable tools to prevent over eating and provide better habits.



Is this new weight loss injection safe?

The FDA approved Wegovy for weight loss in 2021. These GLP-1 drugs have been under study since 2009. As with any medication there are possible side effects. Most complaints center around nausea and vomiting while getting accustomed to the medications in the first 3 months. Patients with Thyroid cancer, Pancreatitis, and gallbladder issues are not good candidates.
